On your mark, get set, GO! While we might be tempted to stay and run around this 1896 Olympic track, built exactly like the ancient Roman one, we have some running around Athens to do.

Before we get going, we stop to pet one of the many stray's we see in the city. Not to worry, if you see a collar it means the city has vaccinated it.

Welcome to the Acropolis, which means a "city set upon a hill."

From the top of the Acropolis, you can see why Athens is called, the "White Sea."

Athena's Temple was the "Jewel of the Acropolis." She was the "goddess of wisdom" and this was the "house of the virgin." Later, when Christianity took over, it would be the house of THE virgin.

Even the Parthenon had connections to Athena!

Shall we attend a play while we are here? The theater of Dionysis can hold 15,000 people and is the oldest in the world. It was OBLIGATORY for the Greeks to attend the comedies and tragedies.

Our food is too!

Oh no! It's 9 pm and they are kicking us out for the "next seating." I guess it's just as well. Wake up for our flight to Rome is 4:30 am. See you tomorrow bright and early!
